DAY BY DAY

Day 1: Arrival at Arusha

Your designated guide will be waiting to pick you up at either of the two airports—Arusha or Kilimanjaro International airport—depending on the arrival time of your flight. After an inviting welcome, he will transfer you to your hotel where you may unwind for the rest of the day while getting ready for a for an experience of a lifetime. If you have time in your hands, you can book a city tour with as, check out our activities page for more info.

Day 2: Nature Walk and Relaxation day

A slow day where you will have time to be familiar and acquainted with Arusha. Depending on the type of safari you choose (luxury semi-lux etc) you may go for nature walking activity mainly dedicated for bird watching. After you will get enough time to unwind and prepare for the unbeaten roads tomorrow.

Day 3: Arusha National Park

Bird enthusiasts should not miss Arusha National Park since it is home to over 400 bird species, including African fish eagles, spur-winged geese, secretary birds, red-fronted parrots, African olive pigeons, Narina trogons, Egyptian geese, and many more. The Park is also an excellent spot to get out and stretch your legs, with both walking safaris as well as canoe safaris available which is definitely a good way to also view different bird species in the park. The National Park also has the world’s biggest giraffe population, making it an ideal destination for giraffe enthusiasts.

Day 4&5: Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is widely regarded as providing the best year-round bird-watching in Tanzania, thanks to a climate that alternates between hot and dry for half of the year and wet and humid for the other half, as well as a diverse range of habitats that include large, permanent swamps with year-round water, dry savannahs, and woodland areas. Icing on the top are the large elephant concertation in the park, iconic baobab trees, Tarangire River. The park is also home to buffalo, zebra, wildebeest and a range of predators such as lions and leopards and rarely cheetahs.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park

After an energizing breakfast you will leave with packed lunch off to the unbeaten roads of Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara is a small but diverse park 120km west of Arusha home to warding birds (including flamingoes and over 500 other birds’ species). You will also come across baboons and elephants in the parks largely thick forest and watch for tree climbing lions that have become famous throughout Africa.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Conservation Area & Ngorongoro Crater

This UNESCO World Heritage Site millions of years ago, is 600m deep and covers roughly 260sq km. Due to its dense animal population of approximately 25,000, the crater offers the best game viewing of all the parks in Tanzania. You will descend into the crater and in a matter of minutes, you will be able to see wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, and a very good number of the more than 500 bird species in the area which included both native and migrants (from Northern Africa and Europe if you come on the months of November-April).

Day 8&9: Serengeti National Park (Central/East/west)

You will begin your day early and enjoy the morning lights and begin your safari to the next destination and home for the next few days. The Serengeti National Park is the 3rd largest park in Tanzania but the most popular with diverse landscapes and habitats, such as grassy plains, swamps, lakes, savannah and mountains covering a whopping 14 000 sq. km and offers amongst many other things the biggest concentration of big cats in the world (Cheetahs, Lions, Leopards, Wild cats…).

About 540 (!) different species of birds have been identified by the Serengeti Biodiversity Program but you have to pay close attention to the “Serengeti specials,” which are indigenous bird species that are unique to the region and so cannot be found anywhere else on Earth. The grey-throated spurfowl, Schawlow’s wheatear, red-throated tit, rufous-tailed weaver, grey-crested helmet shrike, and Schawlow’s turaco are some of these unique birds.

Day 10: Serengeti National Park- FLY OUT

After breakfast, you will leave with packed lunch and explore a little more while saying goodbye to Serengeti National Park and head to SERONERA AIRSTRIP where you will take your DOMESTIC flight to either Zanzibar or Arusha (OR ANOTHER DOMESTIC LOCATION) airport depending on your next destination.
