DAY BY DAY

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Welcome to Moshi, the gateway to Kilimanjaro! After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for some rest and to soak up the excitement for the upcoming adventure. 

Day 2: Gear Check and Acclimatization

Time to get prepared! Today, you’ll meet your guide and have a gear check to ensure you have everything you need for the climb. Then, enjoy a leisurely acclimatization hike to get your legs warmed up and ready for the challenge ahead.

Day 3: Lemosho Gate to Big Tree Camp

Let the climb begin! After a scenic drive to the Lemosho Gate, located at 6,890 feet (2,100 meters), you’ll start the trek through the lush rainforest. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys swinging through the trees as you make your way to the Big Tree Camp at 9,842 feet (3,000 meters).

Day 4: Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Today, you’ll leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. The trail offers stunning views of the Shira Plateau, with Mount Meru towering in the distance. As you ascend to Shira 1 Camp at 11,811 feet (3,600 meters), remember to enjoy the breathtaking scenery.

Day 5: Shira 1 Camp to Moir Hut

Wake up to spectacular views of the Shira Cathedral as you continue your climb. The trail takes you across vast high-altitude desert plains and lava formations, providing a unique and otherworldly landscape. Spend the night at Moir Hut, perched at 13,780 feet (4,200 meters).

Day 6: Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp

Get ready for a challenging day of hiking! You’ll conquer the Lava Tower at 15,091 feet (4,600 meters), which offers sweeping panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Descend to Barranco Camp at 12,795 feet (3,900 meters) for a well-deserved rest and to marvel at the imposing Barranco Wall. 

Day 7: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Today, you’ll face the infamous Barranco Wall, a thrilling and exhilarating scramble that rewards you with stunning views once you conquer it. After the wall, a relatively easy hike takes you to Karanga Camp at 13,287 feet (4,050 meters), where you’ll spend the night. 

Day 8: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Almost there! Today’s hike takes you through alpine desert as you steadily climb to Barafu Camp at 15,331 feet (4,673 meters). Take some time to rest and mentally prepare for the final push to the summit. 

Day 9: Summit Day and Mweka Camp

The day you’ve been waiting for has arrived! Start the ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, standing at 19,341 feet (5,895 meters). With the light of your headlamp guiding the way, enjoy the breathtaking sunrise from the mountaintop. Descend to Mweka Camp at 10,171 feet (3,100 meters) for a well-deserved sleep.

Day 10: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

The final leg of your journey! After breakfast, continue the descent through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Celebrate your accomplishment with a well-deserved certificate presentation before heading back to Moshi for a celebratory dinner.

Day 11: Departure

Bid farewell to Kilimanjaro and Tanzania as you head back home, taking with you memories and stories to last a lifetime.
